My good friend Gail (see Feature a Friend Post on Gail HERE) introduced me to Sheryl with Clientele Skincare. Sheryl and I had an immediate connection and fondness for each other. An added benefit is that Sheryl, National Director of Education and Aesthetician, has been working with me the past month to address my personal skincare needs. She spent a great deal of time getting to know me, my skincare needs and skin challenges due to my Scleroderma. Fashion Tips to Look Younger and Skin Care Interview with Sherly Wilson of Clientele
I have been influenced by the influencers over the years to try so many products based on their recommendations. I’ve also been persuaded by the sales help in various stores to try products. This was the first time someone took the time to know me and my needs both health and skincare in order to make targeted recommendations of products specifically for me. I no longer feel the need to keep searching and to keep trying all the different products we are often presented with daily especially if you’re on all the social media platforms. Getting Started

The first three products I used were Clientele Lotus Time Shield Natural Oils, Estro Lift Face Wash and the Facial Masque! My face felt so clean, lines were slightly diminished and I had a noticeable glow to my skin!

You massage the oil all over your face to cleanse and remove make-up. It is made with Clientele’s patented sacred lotus seed and botanical oils from coconut, sunflower seed, olive fruit, sweet almonds and rosehips! This feels so good on my very dry skin! My make-up comes off easily without any harsh scrubbing and/or rubbing!

Maggie, the store manager at the Chico’s Naperville location, hosted another Chic Sneak Peek this past week! It’s always great getting together with Maggie, the Naperville sales staff and fellow Chicago Midlife Influencers to see the new collections and offer up our styling tips!
This month’s Chic Sneak Peek was both virtual and IN PERSON for the first time since we’ve started our sneak peeks! To say it was exciting to have an in person audience is an understatement! Le Chocolate du Bouchard was our wonderful hosts for our live event. The attendees were able to order lunch and drinks off of their tasty menu.
Additionally, the owner, Cathy, shared how she created her “chocolate regimen” and each attendee was given a chocolate sample! It’s a story you need to hear for yourself! It was an afternoon of fashion and chocolates!

Maggie and the associates always have our fitting rooms ready and waiting for us – cleaned and socially distanced. She places a very generous thank you gift/Swag Bag in our individual rooms!
Maggie and the Associates worked to pull all of the newest items and assemble the looks that Sue, Maggie and I would be sharing along with all of our styling tips! The mannequins were dressed and prepped! The accessories were collected for each look and bagged up!
On this day, I was celebrating that we got to have an in person fashion show! I got to share the beautiful new Chico’s line! Spending time with Maggie, Sue and my mom is always fun! Le Chocolate has the best martinis; and this was my first day of summer break so I had one to celebrate! Lastly, I got to meet another local Instagram friend for the first time! There’s always a lot to be celebrated no matter how small!

My mom bought this kimono but we’re actually going to share it! We’re very different heights and sizes; however, we both tried it on and can pull it off by styling it slightly different to account for our size differences! The back of this kimono is really gorgeous! Click here to check it out!
My mom purchased this scarf for me as part of my upcoming birthday present. The details of this scarf are what caught my attention – the colors, the leopard print and the tassels! All so cute! I’m going to pair it with this light weight sweater, which is an ombre colored “CALYPSO CORAL”! Since the sweater is relatively sheer I’m going to wear a white tank underneath. I think pattern mixing will be fun so I’m going to wear camo print pants (playing off of the olive shade of green in the palm leaves) and my leopard print sandals! The whole look will also be cute with white jeans, blue jeans, a denim skirt and other solid colored tops.

Flounce, ruffles, tiers…it’s all super trendy and super feminine! Ruffles are everywhere, adorning many off-the-shoulder necklines; covering hemlines, sleeves, and even pant legs! However, these aren’t your old fashioned school girl ruffles although those were cute. They aren’t necessarily as frilly, delicate or dainty as they once were back in the day. The current trend ruffles are the more modern version of what once was. You can guess that I am attracted to the “modern day” ruffles that are both big bold, make a statement, add interest and detail ruffles as well as the more subtle softer versions! It’s great because no matter you’re preference you can add them to your wardrobe and your comfort level. Fashion tip and reminder: If you wear something with confidence, you always look fabulous! Would you agree?
Subtle Ruffles
This blouse has so many wonderful details starting with the ruffles at the shoulders! The contrasting white material makes them stand out. The peplum (or tier) is figure flattering along with the slight high low hem. This color is always a winner in my eyes and perfect for spring styling. While this is a wear to work look, this top would be so cute with jeans and even Bermuda shorts (which I hear are trending again…a post for another day)!

Ruffled Sleeves
Since some of you are in a much warmer climate than I am (although I will be wearing this again in the summer when it heats up), you might want to consider a tee with a ruffled sleeve. A classic white tee or top with a ruffled sleeve detail, will pair great with any bottoms: from shorts, to jeans, to pants and even athleisure wear/joggers. The ruffled sleeve detail adds some extra interest to an otherwise plain tee. The sleeve length is perfect – not too short or too long and not too tight on the arm!

Everyone needs a little white dress in her wardrobe and why not one with some ruffled sleeves?! I purchased this dress last summer at Target. The empire waist is figure flattering. The ruffled fluttery sleeves draw your eyes up and adds some interest to the dress. I’m tall (5’8″) so the length is perfect. The dress was lined but slightly low in the arm pit area. I added a white bralette for added coverage. Voila! Another feeling fabulous look! By the way, these wedges went back to the store as they killed my feet. Normally I can tolerate a little discomfort for the sake of cuteness but these were beyond what I am willing to tolerate! LOL… Any of you fashionistas relate?!

Ruffled Shoulders
You can pretty much find clothing items with ruffles placed any where and every where! Your stature will somewhat dictate the placement and size. Being as I’m tall and a larger stature, my frame can support bigger ruffles. If you’re petite, you might want to stick with the smaller more subtle ruffles. This top appealed to me as it has three tiered ruffles on the shoulders. Adding volume at the shoulders slims down your lower half/mid-section. I’m definitely a fan … think old school shoulder pads (which a newer version has resurfaced on the fashion scene – another blog for another day)!
Switching from a top with ruffles, to shorts with ruffled hems. The ruffled hem adds some interest and details to the shorts, which typically would simply be straight across. It’s figure flattering as it flows away from the leg. I’ve dressed up these shorts with a cami, blazer and gold accents. However, it would be easy to pair them with a simple top or tee. I wore this outfit to work, which I was kind of second guessing it and it’s appropriateness but ended being fine. It’s a great solution to a “summer suit”. This is one of those outfits that I felt fantastic wearing! Looking forward to wearing it again this summer!

This romper is everything! I purchased it several years ago and it’s still a favorite. It’s super comfy, figure flattering, easy on and off, cute floral print and YES ruffled hem! If Loft came out with another romper in this exact style, I’d buy it again in a heart beat! You know I’m a fan of getting several of the same items in different colors and patterns! By the way, did you notice my slides? RUFFLES! I’ve had them for awhile and also have them in a hot pink! Remember it’s all in the details.

Statement Ruffles
In my opinion, statement ruffles are big, bold and really stand out making a BIG STATEMENT! I call this one of my “sprinter” looks – a combination winter/spring! This sweatshirt has a big statement ruffle which I’ve paired with my wide leg cropped floral pants (winter on the top – I even have a tank on underneath- and spring on the bottom). The ruffled sweatshirt can easily be worn with jeans, skirts, joggers, shorts…lots of options! I debated whether adding a necklace was too much with the large ruffle. The ruffled sweatshirt can totally stand on it’s own but being true to my extra self I went with the necklace. The mint green color felt more like springy!

This ruffled top grabbed my attention immediately! I told myself I didn’t need it until it went on sale and Stein Mart was going out of business! The two tiered ruffles are striped with top stripes in blue and white and the bottom stripes in black and white. Similar to the sweatshirt, the top could stand alone but I like my accessories and can resist adding some bling! I’ve paired this top with my white jeans. Wearing my sandals with the black and white striped strap and heels makes this matchy matchy gal extra happy!

Ruffles have been in my wardrobe for quit some time! So long that I’ve forgotten where this top is from but I suspect I got it at Stein Mart. The one shoulder ruffles, off the shoulder and diagonal ruffle in blue and white stripes really makes a statement and has lots of interest! Plus it’s blue and white striped! I confess that I have a thing for stripes…can anyone relate? You already know I love wearing blue!
Ruffle overload seems an appropriate title for the next look! The top has the statement ruffle and the shorts have ruffled hems! It was the perfect outfit for our Disney cruise several years ago!

Ruffled Tiers
Another current trend similar to ruffles is clothing with tiers! The tiers are far more subtle and probably easier to wear if ruffles feel like too much or if you’re petite. You can find clothing items with multiple tiers and single tiers. I think the most common that I’ve seen are dresses and skirts. I purchased this tiered denim skirt last summer when Stein Mart was closing it’s doors. It was slightly out of my comfort zone. I believe I paid all of $4.00 and figured if I didn’t like it I wouldn’t be out much. Here are two of the ways that I’ve styled it. I bet it could also be sassed up a bit with a graphic tee and sneakers!

This tee has a large denim flower in the center! For warmth, I added one of my denim jackets! Did you know that denim on denim is a styling thing?
This hot pink dress is really fabulous for lots of reasons! It has a high low tier across the bottom, a v neck, puffy sleeves, pockets and is super soft! It’s not clingy and super figure flattering! This is the perfect Kentucky Derby look, which is on my bucket list to attend one day! It also made for the perfect dress to tip toe through the tulips! The good news is that this dress also comes in petites!

After our Virtual Fashion Show, Lisa, Maggie, the Chico’s staff and I headed over to Le Chocolate du Bouchard. I had never been there before and thought it was solely chocolate and candies. It was a nice surprise to find out that it’s also a restaurant! We got to sit upstairs in the private room, which is often used for special events. It was a great pleasure meeting the owner Cathy and hearing her unique and impressive story! If you’re local, looking for the best chocolate martini, chocolate treats and a great meal, I’d highly recommend it! They’re having a Mother’s Day Event so you might as well treat Mom to an outfit from Chico’s and a chocolate of her choice at Le Chocolate du Bouchard! She’ll LOVE you for it!

Outfits play an important role in enjoying your summertime. After reaching for your sunglasses and sandals, you’ll want the right outfit to match. Sorbet Colors
Sorbet colors are the perfect shades for a summer outfit. Pink bubble gum is one of the most worn sorbet colors and is particularly trendy this year. Sorbet colors are brightly colored making them an appealing outfit on a sunny beach. The colors also match with different skin tones allowing you to sun-bathe in confidence.

Fringed bags are some of the most fashionable and stylish bags this season. They are versatile bags that can be worn for any occasion from day to night. The dangling fringe adds a stylish boho vibe to outfits, elevating any look. Puffy Sleeves

Wide Legged-Trousers
This summer wide-legged trousers will be making a huge comeback. There are different types of wide-leg trousers, ranging from old school high-waist trousers to utilitarian cargo pants, to sleek flowy trousers in light fabrics. You can mix and match with light shirts, tank tops and body suits.
Cut Outs
The popularity of cut outs has recently increased especially as summer draws closer. From tops to bodysuits to pants, cut outs are all the craze. Must have pieces of this season include bathing suits with cut outs and off the shoulder tops.
Open Backs
Open Backs Same concept as the cut out, an open back dress is a very chic option, especially for dressing up during a warm summer night. The bare part exposes your tan while at the same time relieves you from the heat.
Blazers
Blazers are a simple but classy addition to any outfit in the summer. Depending on the type of outfit and style you’re going for, a blazer can elevate an outfit or can be worn casually. This versatility gives you options when dressing up and it is one of the reasons blazers are always trendy.

How would you define everyday luxe? This was our conversation when my fashionable friends and I first landed on the topic/theme for the month. Agreement was reached that we might each define it differently. Therefore, we landed on each of us defining it for ourselves. Here’s my spin on it: Everyday luxe is taking an everyday item that might typically be plain but elevating it to another level. Think about wearing t-shirts, ja plain white blouse, jean jackets and sweatpants. These clothing items might be relatively plain perhaps different colors or materials. Now add embellishments such as sequins, rhinestones and glitter! BOOM! You’ve now got an everyday item that’s comfortable but it has a luxe feel and look. What do you think about my definition? How would you define it?

This look embodies all that I consider luxe! I’m wearing a relatively plain black v neck t-shirt but the v is trimmed in metallic silver. The skirt is an easy pull on but make it luxe by wearing a metallic silver or gold skirt. The denim jacket is a one of kind made by Jackie of Dyetology. To read a previous blog about Jackie, click HERE. The shoulders have rhinestone pieces. The cuffs are trimmed in shimmery/glittery black ribbon. One of the pocket flaps has silver metallic embellishment. One of the side panels has a beautiful floral pattern in sliver and black metallic. It was my plan to share with you some new items I’ve recently purchase that meet my definition of luxe but it’s been too cold here; and you know I’m always cold. Here are some casual cute everyday luxe items I’m loving!
I really liked this t-shirt dress with rhinestones (you might have to zoom in on the sleeves to see the details better) on the sleeves. It’s comfortable and going to be so easy to wear once it warms up. It also comes in black. It has a loose fit although you could add a belt. I think it can easily be dressed up with heels or worn with sneakers as shown. I have a cute pair of silver flats that I’m going to wear with it.

Plain white t-shirts aren’t really my thing but give me all the graphic t-shirts! However, these oversized taffeta sleeves enticed me to get this tee (it also comes in black). The puffy taffeta sleeves in my opinion adds some luxe! What do you think? It looks so cute with jeans. I think it will also be cute with skirts, shorts, joggers, etc.

These I.N.C. joggers are studded with micro rhinestones along the sides. This “nantucket breez” color is great for spring and summer. The joggers also come in black. I like wearing joggers when traveling. These will be perfect in June for my girl’s trip to Palm Springs. I also was able to grab several embellished tees that will be cute with these joggers. Sadly, I can’t find the tees on line so they must have sold out already.
This is the only tee that I got that is still available. How cute is this puffy sleeved tee with star embellishments? I got it in white. It also comes in “Lemon Candy” and “Nantucket Breez”. Which color would you pick?
