Spring/Summer 2017 Trend ~ Sunglasses
By
Taken from: www.fashionisers.comSunshine requires the right eyewear and we are loving the latest in spring/ summer 2017 sunglasses from the runways! The fashion trend reports for most everything else have already appeared and we save the best for last here as we get to look at the specs that will offer chic protection while packing on the glamor.
The whole of the season’s fashion trends have beckoned towards contrasts, so we were expecting our finding in the spring/ summer 2017 eyewear trends to also match this. There are all types with lots of new flavors and modernized classics to enjoy during the spring and summer months.
The coming year is full of unexpected fashion trends and there is little not to love about it all. So pick up a pair of your favorite specs from any of the designers spotted on the runways and enjoy showing off the accessory that highlights your facial features best. It is a promise that you will find something for you, no matter what.
What are the top spring/ summer 2017 eyewear trends?
#1: Still Rocking the Oversized
If you have been enjoying the oversized eyewear for the last few seasons, you will be very happy to learn that you can continue rocking the look throughout 2017. Somehow, if this is the pace things are progressing at, we are pretty sure that oversized sunglasses will be around for another few seasons as well.
With designers opting to give customers exactly what they want, it is hard to imagine them removing the extra-large pieces from their collections anytime soon. Whether you are looking at beautifully round Alice + Olivia sunglasses, rimless Phillip Lim aviators or non-geometric Bibhu Mohapatra designs, overtly large sunglasses are going to be rocking your world with ease.
#2: Back to the Future
Designers have been trying to create a look that we have generally associated with sci-fi movies to date, including playing with black and white features and turning summer 2017 sunglasses into futuristic goggles. We can almost imagine some of these spring/ summer 2017 eyewear trends being used in James Bond movies, some even appearing akin to some X-Men style gear.
Ashley Williams’ eyewear certainly seems to fit that particular mold and while it appears stark and utilitarian, it is no less desirable for a woman who wants to show that she is ever moving forward with her goals, ambitions and work.
#3: Sunglasses with Double Wires
Double wire rims seem to have a good spot on the spring/ summer 2017 eyewear trends list as well, as they seem to continue to stand out among the rest on the runways for the coming year. Clear lenses with funky wire rims at Byblos Milano certainly are fun to discover, while yellow lenses themselves seem to be a top trend and look great mixed with this particular look.
Sunglasses with colorful lenses as a whole seem to make a splash for the spring, with Phillip Lim bringing in the spring loveliness with his lilac looks on his double-wire-rim aviator sunglasses. We even see it in perfectly circular lenses at Andrew GN, drawing the attention to other parts of the wardrobe while ensuring it looks complete.
#4: The Perfect Statement
Statement sunglasses are all the rage on the runways for the spring and they include everything from funky colors to funky shapes, thick rims and totally see-through designs. Oversized yellow specs are totally hot on the runway, while the cooler blues also find their spot with cat eyes and clear rims, and even some glittery cats in pinkish coloring come into play at Coach.
Statement sunglasses for summer 2017 are made big and bold with butterfly lenses and thin rims on metal wire, the overall Fendi presentation totally rocking our worlds, while Gucci plays with purple lenses and low falling cat eyes.
And have you seen pineapples on designer glasses before? You might want to check out the Dolce & Gabbana summer 2017 sunglasses for those, as they are simply too cool to gloss over. We have to admit though that glitter makes the best statement and when you add that glitter to some larger geometric lenses as per Elie Saab, you get a magnificent creation that should be enjoyed with reverence.
#5: Clearly Plastic Sunglasses
The material is irrelevant here, but the fact that the rims and the lenses seem to be melded together, blue or yellow or any other hue, means that this summer 2017 eyewear trend might be something to consider if you want rims without them flashing about too much.
Roberto Cavalli offers some sensational designs in this category, while Balenciaga plays with modernism and cat eye sunglasses to create a more sterile laboratory look. Celine’s statement specs are no less appealing or futuristic, playing on the blue and the total geometry of the eyewear that seems almost perfect for 2017.
Adding a bit of glitter to some pink lenses, as per Coach, can actually accentuate the trend’s popularity over the coming months as well.
#6: Funky Geometry
A lot of the spring/ summer 2017 eyewear trends we have seen on the Fashion Week runways actually seems to have a funky form of geometry attached, diversifying the sunglass portfolio for the coming year.
This includes some burnt orange nearly pentagon shapes at Marni, the copper hued Prada designs that scream maturity, and the utter fun to be had with the blue tinted Marco De Vincenzo double triangle modern cat meets butterfly sunglasses.
Add in some statement specs to this category from Dolce & Gabbana, and seeing pineapples on pentagon style shapes no longer seems utterly crazy in fashion style.
#7: Adding in Aviator Sunglasses
Aviators have been a statement on the runways for quite some time now and show no signs of disappearing from our closets anytime in the near future, something we are thankful for.
There is just something entirely too enticing about a good pair of aviator sunglasses and designers for the spring season were not shy in recreating some rather covetable looks for their loyal customers to update their wardrobes with. This includes totally plastic-appearing pieces from Versace in purples and burnt orange lenses.
#8: Better in Butterfly Wings
It was trending last season and this one as well, with the spring/ summer 2017 eyewear trends also showing promise of keeping in the butterfly winged attraction to the sunglasses.
Dark lenses or light, colorful or traditional, we see the butterflies appear all over the place, spotted on top runways, such as the modern meets future looks from Miu Miu, and the totally chic and utterly stylish Fendi eyewear that has been crusted with glittering stones along the thin edges.
#9: Flat at the Top
Last spring this was in as well. This coming spring, we shall see it again. The summer 2017 eyewear trends also include the flat top pieces, often oversized, that really make a statement with whatever you decide to wear out.
Marques’ Almeida rather enjoyed pairing light pink hair and clothing with very orange-lensed and black-rimmed glasses, something we are trying to come to terms with ourselves. As for adding some color and matching with other 2017 sunglasses trends, Versace did that amazingly well with the purple lensed aviator looks that enjoyed the flat top with glee.
#10: Catty Cats
Cat eye sunglasses will always be a top trend. We know this. The runways prove this. Finally, the spring/ summer 2017 eyewear trends from New York, Milan, London and Paris most certainly prove this.
Appearing big and small, with half rims or full, in yellow or blue or black or white, the cat eyes are a top eyewear trend and there is no way to get rid of them. They are just too flattering. Everyone knows this.
And so, you are invited to add to your collection with some incredibly beautiful pieces from Stella McCartney that are made for the daintier lady. We see cat-eye sunglasses at Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Antonio Marras and many more, and we are convinced nearly every designer has incorporated this trend in their spring collections, definitely to be seen again in the fall and possibly the coming year.
#11: Perfect Circles
While cat eyes and aviators dominate the runway, we have to give a shout out to the perfectly circular lenses as well that appear either on double rims or without. Round sunglasses for summer 2017 come in super dark lenses or normally light, and can be seen on many top designer shows, such as Dries Van Noten, Acne Studios, and Alice + Olivia.
Double wire rims go well with the look actually, as we can see at Andrew Gn, while we see a repeat of the circle lens with the cat eye at Salvatore Ferragamo. Bug eyes are pretty much total circles in larger format and we see those appear for spring as well, though not in as many detailed designs as in the past, with Anya Hindmarch bringing in some statement looks.
#12: Lenses in Blue
There are many lens colors that we notice among the spring/ summer 2017 sunglasses trends, but it is the blue that not only embodies the spring but really brings out the eyes. There are a few hues to the blue as well, of course, from the more aqua in white rims seen at Michael Kors to the totally plastic appearing futuristic clear-style designs at Balenciaga.
We love the blues in general but think we totally fell in love with the teal to yellow ombre look from Fendi that is all about glamor and modern style. The blue lenses are probably our favorites from among the mix anyway.
Absolutely love the way the different shades bring out the natural pallor of the skin and highlight any makeup that is deemed appropriate to wear.
#13: Sunglasses with Sunshine Lenses
Goodness knows we have seen a whole lot of yellow for the spring and with good reason; it is probably the most spring-oriented color out there and when there is a certain warmth to it instead of the pale banana looks, the sunshine is more than appreciated.
Appearing on everything from the Roberto Cavalli oversized to the lovely double-rimmed Byblos Milano sunglasses, the yellow lenses have secured their spot on the spring/ summer 2017 eyewear trends and are not going anywhere anytime soon it appears.
Versace, Fendi, Miu Miu, Stella McCartney and nearly every designer out there opted for one yellow hue or another when creating the best in fashionable eyewear for the coming spring and summer.
It definitely is something to be enjoyed over the coming months it appears, so we suggest picking up a piece that fits a few trends on this report and enjoy seeing the sunshine through your glasses, day in and day out, no matter what the actual weather where you are may be.
#14: Sunglasses in All Colors
While blue and yellow are quite special and appear so many times that they deserve their own categories, we see a whole lot of different colors as well, in reds and pinks and lilacs and pure purple, while some yellows look more on the green side with equally light green double-rimmed sunglasses to pick up the mood at 3.1 Phillip Lim.
The light peach of Roberto Cavalli’s butterfly sunglasses for summer 2017 do much to raise our intrigue in the fashion world really, since the beauty of the glasses lies in the clear plastic that has its sides studded in silver rivets.
#15: Shine On
The spring/ summer 2017 eyewear trends seem to focus on glittering and sparkling sunglasses. We mentioned Elie Saab’s glittery lenses once before and we shall do so again as they deserve multiple mentions. One thing we notice appears sometimes subtly, often not so, is the shiny, glittery and entirely blinged out sunglasses for summer 2017 that are hard to pass up.
That’s why when Gucci came in with the black-rimmed clear lensed totally punkish eyewear, we knew we had a winner. There is just such fun in those sparkling studs all over the sides and top of the glasses.
Of course, nothing meets the glitter magic on the Fendi lips matched beautifully with ombre blue funky geometric sunglasses that are oversized and the edges studded in glittering white stone. As for Dolce & Gabbana, there is something quite endearing about seeing glittering appliques on oversized rimes framing round yellowish lenses.

How To Wear Fur Collars
Part 3 of my video series with Diesel and Lulu’s. Fur (real & faux) is one trend that seems to keep coming back every fall and winter. Instead of investing in a few pieces, opt for a fur collar. This accessory can be worn over a cardigan, denim jacket, top or winter coat. It’s a really inexpensive way to dress up any jacket or top you have in your closet!
Check out our video on 3 ways to wear fur collars. Hope you enjoy the video.
Special thanks to Perilee for taking the time out to spend the morning with me. I had a blast.

Knit Hat Trends to Help You Brave the Cold
Part 2 of my day at Diesel and Lulu’s. If you missed Part 1, we talked about Dolman Sleeve Tops for fall/winter.
Knit Beanie hats are one of the most fashionable trends to keep yourself warm this season. When picking a beanie pay attention to your height. Voluminous and big options are are good for someone who is tall, whereas less voluminous and more fitted are perfect for those who are medium or short height.
The best part of this trend? Unlike a $1,000 “it” bag, this is something that anyone can get in on (plenty of great options are out there for under $30).

The Neck’s Best Thing
I recently received an email from Charming Charlie with the same title as above. The email went on to say, “90s inspired chokers are all the rage again (and perfect for dressing up basically every look.)” I immediately went to check them out and was hopeful to make a purchase. Much to my surprise they were almost sold out! I was informed that the ladies leaving the store had come in for the exact same thing. I think it’s a fun trend and can also serve the purpose of covering a wrinkle or two in the neck area! LOL Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to purchase a choker that day but I’m determined to find the perfect one for me so stay tuned!

My Shoes Never Make Me Feel Fat!
I’ve struggled with weight my entire life. I’ve lost and gained the same 15 lbs. multiple times. When I’m on the heavier side it makes selecting my OOTD (outfit for the day) more challenging. Finding something that will hide my sins, be comfortable and look good is no easy task!
My solution is to pair a narrow leg pant with a tunic or loose top that will camouflage my chub. I then pull it all together with a killer pair of shoes! A narrow legged pant that hits at the ankle or rolled above the ankle really allow the shoes to be the star of the show. Whether it is a pop of color, fun design or pattern, or a cool material a great pair of shoes can transform an outfit from good to great. It never ceases to amaze me how many compliments I receive from both men and women when I deploy this strategy. It seems everyone notices and appreciates a great pair of kicks. I’ve had a lifelong love affair with shoes because no matter what the scale says my shoes never make me feel fat!
Here are some of the looks I’ve been sporting this summer.
If you feel like adding a new pair or two to your wardrobe check out the great selection below! There are 30 pairs and each is under $150!
