Millennial and Mid-Lifer Shop and Style Fall Fashion Trends
Meet millennial cutie Brittany. FTF has done previous blog posts with Brittany (Eyelash Extensions). Brittany is Lori’s niece. She and I had an immediate connection over all things beauty and fashion. Brittany is passionate about fashion and likes to look stylish at work and even at home. She loves to find good deals and enjoys accessorizing from head to toe! I believe she is my millennial clone! A girl after my heart for sure!
Fall Fashion
Brittany and I have talked about doing a post in which we styled the same look to show that fashion isn’t limited by age. I thought it would be interesting to have her pick the fall trend items as it forced me a little out of my comfort zone. We did not discuss how we were each going to style the piece. Here are our results.
Look 1 Tunic Turtle Neck Sweater
I must admit I wasn’t very excited about this one. Both the style and color are not something I would have picked myself. However, that’s why it’s a great idea to step out of your box now and then and allow someone else to make recommendations. My least favorite color to wear is orange. This shade is a very soft, subtle shade almost a peach. Additionally, I thought I was going to look like a tank in this style of sweater. I was wrong on both counts!
Brittany
Brittany styled the sweater with dark wash jeans, over the knee boots and gold accessories.
Julie
I styled the sweater with dark wash skinny jeans, booties, a blanket scarf and gold accessories.
We found it interesting that we both choose dark wash jeans and gold accessories without discussing it. We agree that it would be a cute sweater over leggings. I have a navy blue puffy vest that I could layer for warmth. This sweater is figure flattering as it hides any midsection flaws you might have. Last year, I tried over the knee boots but didn’t feel I could pull it off. Since my weight loss, I might try them again this year.
This shade of orange is great with navy, black, gray and brown so lots of stying options!
My blanket scarf has some terrific fall colors and will pair well with so many other fall items. Believe it or not it’s from Hobby Lobby! When I saw it, I knew immediately I had to have it for this look!

Look 2 Plaid Vest
Brittany says that she choose this vest because she likes plaid for the fall. She feels that vests are slimming and figure flattering. I liked this vest right away. Although Brittany choose it, I probably would have been drawn to it myself.
Brittany
Brittany paired the plaid vest with a black long sleeve tee, black jeans, beige boots and gold accessories.
Julie
I kept on my skinny dark wash jeans and beige/brown booties. In the first couple of pics, I added a brown belt with gold touches. The addition of the belt draws in the material and creates more of a waist. I added a gold necklace. The vest colors are somewhat difficult to see but it has gray and an oatmeal color. I wore the vest over an oatmeal colored long sleeve tee. The tee is somewhat clingy in my midsection but was camouflaged by the vest. I would also dress up this look for work by wearing red dress pants.

The vest comes in 8 color choices!
Brittany and I had lots of fun planning, styling and picture taking together! Come back next week for our take on the “It” fall color! We are also planning a holiday blog post!
As you can see, 20 somethings and 50 somethings can wear the same item/s and look cute and trendy! FTF hopes you don’t limit your wardrobe based on your age! Don’t be afraid to step out of your fashion comfort zone and try new things. You just might be surprised!

You both look amazing! Great job, Brittany choosing classic styles. Julie the belt really shows your little waist.
This 60 something would wear both looks-great job ladies
Hi Deb,
Thanks for your kind words! I’m glad I let Brittany choose our looks! I like trying something I normally wouldn’t pick for myself! You could totally rock both looks! Maybe we should do a 20 something, 50 something and 60 something post! Can I count you in Deb?!

You both look great, and so does that sculpture!
Thanks so much Beth! Yes, we thought that sculpture was super cool! We didn’t see the “no climbing on the sculpture” sign until after we climbed on it…ooops! It sure made for some cool pictures!
